Don’t you looking for place to go in Incheon while you search the word ‘Place to visit in Incheon’? I usually find like that, too. Then, what do you think about where is the good place to go in Incheon? First, I chose this place, “Incheon Modern History Museum”. I think the Korean modern and contemporary history starts from when Incheon opened a port.  By this, western culture entered in and the history of Korean ordeals started. The port opened against our will.

 

The people who are familiar with history will know. Joseon could not accept western remarkable culture because of closed-door policy. However, Joseon finally signed a compelled treaty which called Ganghwado treaty at 1876 on account of fortune yogh event that occurred in 1875. Then the opening of port in Incheon started. We will look around the Incheon Modern History Museum which shows the history of Incheon, the city grows big through those suffered history.

 

 

 

Here is Incheon Modern History Museum. This museum is perfect place to visit, because it is nearby Incheon port and China town. Especially, it is good place for not Incheon citizens but people from other area.

 

 

 

 

At first, Incheon Modern History Museum is Incheon branch of first bank Japan; it became Incheon branch of Korea First bank after independence passed through branch Incheon of the Bank of Korea and the Bank of Joseon. Now it became the Incheon Modern History Museum like above picture.

 

 

 

 

 

Now let’s get in to Incheon Modern History Museum. I feel palpitating to see what kind of history displayed in museum. Before getting into the museum, I have pamphlet first. That pamphlet shows introduction of the museum and place to visit in Incheon. I’m wondering!

 

 

 

Here it is. Lots of goods from opening Incheon port are exhibited in here. There are Cannonball, Taegeukgi and goods from that period. It looks really different from nowadays. It is just amazing for me.

 

 

 

 

 

Here is inner-part of the museum. Ceiling of center is high. They told this museum was bank but how can it be this wonderful? At that time the figure and class of bank was different from these days. It looks like hotel or a palatial residence.

 

 

While having a look, people are keep entering and watching museum. There are many couples. They are using here as a date place. They can walk through unique streets, watch museum, and make good memories between them. It is unusual features that we cannot find in other places.

 

 

 

 

We are going to next exhibit hall. You can see introduction on the wall when you enter in the hall. I read it one by one. Yang-hang… Haven’t you heard about this word? There is one company which still use that name. Yang-hang, it is the name for trading company.

 

 

 

Here is another exhibition hall. It exhibits scene of railroad. The first railroad in Korea was opened in Incheon. That is, Gyeongin Railroad Line. Gyeongin Line is the route that connects from Jemulpo of Incheon to Noryangjin of Seoul. Now, it’s electrified. Moreover, museum has the sculpture of image of those days.

 

 

 

It seems that we have arrived last stage of museum.  Because of my short introduction, it looks like all in one, but it’s bigger actually. This image is the figure of those days. It shows the reappearance of image when museum was bank. It’s not really different from current days. In addition, there are many goods which were used at that time. 

 

 

 

 

After looking around museum, I went out for having look of outside. Museum seemed only about this big when I saw it first and realized it’s small; however I feel I can make sure that it is special place after I look around and learn about history. Because it is the building that share modern and contemporary history of Incheon and it has the changed image of Incheon.
