Songlim-dong Snailway

At the beginning of this year, I wanted to know real Incheon and I found Snailway nearby Mt.Sudoguk. I was impressed by its beautiful name. I’ve imagined a lot about Snailway and it was small and tiny alley. There was non-fancy mural which makes people who lives busy days stop there.

When I see mural in picture, it feels that I’m going into the picture. You can imagine anything in Songlim-dong Snailway. It feels like that I can hear the sound of playing-children, making rice, and doing laundry and it makes me smile. When I walk around the alley, it creates delusion of sound of living people over the window. 

Songlim-dong Snailway is the place that you can see the moon in nearest distance at the top of Mt.Sudoguk hillside village. If you walk from East-Incheon station to top of Mt.Sudoguk, it takes 10 minutes. At the end of the way, it connects with Baedari Secondhand way and it is one of good place to see together.

There are many mural villages in Incheon. Mural villages are going along with public arts to improve visual environment of isolated places. There are Songwol-dong Fairy tale village, Baedari Mural Village, Sipjeong-dong ten-well way Mural village, Wolmi Mural Vilage, Kanghwa mural village and so on. Songlim-dong Snailway is the smallest mural village that I’ve been, but I was disappointed that post-management was bad.

  

It takes 30 minutes to look around Snailway.

It was good to feel more simple sensibility than popular mural village. You can find traditional things which are disappeared by urbanization .It is really precious place that past and present are co-existing. 

If you follow the stair of Mt.Sudoguk you can find Songlim1-dong Community Service Center. You cannot find Snailway on the map, so it is better to find community service center.

It feels like I’m walking through the maze because Main Street connects with narrow alley. Narrow Snailway looks like our life. ^^

Snailway is dark at noon because of narrow alley. The spread-laundries make me feel happy.

My friend who went with me makes joke with the old feature. "Don’t bother who goes Snailway stair hard."

I stopped at stalemate after walking around the mazed-alley. Actually, it is not stalemate but I cannot walk through the alley because there was a woman who was working in alley. She said sorry to me and I feel sorrier about her.

  

The rusty stovepipe on the roof shows track of the time. Over the Snailway there are high apartments. Snailway is friendly accompanied-way that connects past and present.

The old sign of Real-estate stuck on bricks. It makes me feel warm because it is sign and words that I saw when I was young.

After walking around and around Snailway, I moved my way to Baedari Secondhand bookstore way in Main Street. Many people were talked their hope and dream in here. Even you cannot find old feature of this place. I stopped at one secondhand bookstore. Books poured out from the store. I asked "Where does this book go?" and she said it turns into new book. It makes me think about the old days by accustomed textbooks.

If you go from Baedari Secondhand bookstore way to Mural Village, you can find rest area. To take rest, we moved to "Space Beam" which is Alternative Art Creation Space. We took time with some books and drinking tea on 2nd floor. We cannot talk with artist on that day, but you can take time by talking with artists during drinking teas. The fee of tea help to make donation.
